The Somebodys are an eclectic group of producers who came together under the musical direction of John Campbell during his time as former co-manager of ROBIN GIBB of the BEE GEES.
Having worked first hand with the Bee Gees songs for over five years, John wanted to make an album that would cast a completely contemporary slant on these great tracks. He thus collaborated with leading independent artists who had the creative freedom to record these tracks unhindered by established interpretation and with an unashamedly modern approach. Their collective goal was to create a first-of-its-kind tribute by the UK's black music community to this great band.
The results are stunning. Robin Gibb himself has said "...these are amongst some of the best Bee Gees covers I've ever heard..."
The album's first single, Inside Out, features rising UK soul vocalist Rachael Bell, who had been nominated in the U.S. as a Female Vocalist of the Year by SoulTracks.com for its Readers' Choice Awards. The track was produced by Pete and Steve Lewinson, scene who have performed and recorded with Simply Red, Annie Lennox and Amy Winehouse, among many others.
The album also features tracks produced by TMS (The Musical Shed), a team of cutting edge young producers with recent acclaimed tracks for Tynchy Stryder, Lily Allen, McClean, and Rox, as well as by the renowned producer Michael Graves, who was behind the immediately identifiable sound of Des'ree and has produced many tracks for Robin Gibb. Additional featured vocalists include, among others, Sarah Brown of Simply Red and Incognito on "Immortality" and Michelle Escoffery on "How Deep is Your Love."
